Women in Engineering - Winners!

Last week, as part of the celebration and recognition of International Women in Engineering day, Miss Jabbar took six Year 10 Washwood students (all girls) into the city for an engineering challenge.   

The team went to the International Design Hub in Queensway in the city centre to take part in the Amey Cup Challenge.  Amey host this event to support women in engineering.The six girls did Washwood Heath Academy very proud and after lots of hard work they finally won the challenge!!

It's fair to say, the students were nervous and anxious about presenting but rehearsed it and were really brave when it came to presenting their project.  Having worked collaboratively with Amey engineers and structural designers who were mentoring them throughout the day, they presented eloquently, had clear, innovative ideas, spoke well and presented their ideas professionally.

Miss Jabbar says, 'I was super proud of them!'
